That means connecting brand, local search, content and a website that answers questions. Here are eight priorities, with real visual references and practical ways to put them to work.

A product family with a recognisable visual language. The pharmacy has invested in its premises, but every supplier brings a different poster to Instagram. The website promises personal attention without explaining how to request it. Google shows different opening hours from those in the window. There is activity, and perhaps investment, but the public sees three versions of the same business. A marketing plan starts by bringing that experience together.

This selection combines pharmacy identity projects, social content and digital interfaces. Work on Behance and Pentagram shows decisions about colour, composition and presentation; we use those observations to develop our own plan for a local pharmacy. The thread is simple: be recognisable, answer a question and make an action easy. Each channel should contribute to that journey.

We’re publishing this edition in October 2026 to help plan for 2027. It includes a social media project from 2026 and earlier brand references whose dates are stated. These design cases help inform decisions; their portfolios don’t provide data to claim that a campaign increased sales. The recommendations for implementation and measurement below are our own analysis.

The international references help us analyse communication and design. To run a campaign in Spain, the pharmacy team needs to review the messages and the framework applicable to each service or product. AEMPS provides specific information on selling medicines online. That activity has its own requirements and shouldn’t be approached as a generic online shop.

Eight pharmacy marketing priorities for 2027

An identity with personality and continuity

Educational content organised into short series

Services people understand before asking

Local visibility built on accurate information

A website designed around the next step

A considered approach to product categories

Useful emails and clear confirmations

A consistent experience from screen to counter

1 An identity with personality and continuity

A pharmacy can have a brand as recognisable as any other neighbourhood business. That personality comes from repeating useful decisions: the same way of presenting a service, a family of colours that organises categories and photography showing the real team. The priority for 2027 is a system that can handle weekly work, from a carefully planned campaign to a notice that Saturday’s opening hours have changed.

Placebo Pharmacy, designed by Luminous Design and published in 2019, provides a clear reference. The studio used the circular shape of the Athens pharmacy as part of its brand language. Typography and applications maintain a relationship with that concept. White, materials and composition create a recognisable feel across different formats.

Placebo Pharmacy identity applications. Luminous Design, Athens, 2019. View the full case.

At Placebo, the circle has a reason: it comes from the pharmacy’s space and reappears in the identity. That connection is more interesting than choosing a style because it’s fashionable. In your business, it could come from a specialism, a way of helping people or a neighbourhood story. The useful question for the designer is which characteristic deserves to become a visual language, and how people will recognise it when the logo is small.

Take ten current pieces and look at them without their logos. Can you recognise the pharmacy? Do important notices stand apart from promotions? If each poster looks like it belongs to a different business, prepare a short guide: typefaces, colours with a purpose, photographic style and three layouts. The diagnosis doesn’t have to start with a major rebrand. It can begin by removing the elements competing for attention.

For example, reserve a layout with a large title and a practical detail for services, a calmer one for explanations and a third that keeps prices and terms visible for new arrivals in your health and beauty range. When a supplier provides artwork, bring it into that framework. You retain its commercial information without turning your profile into a collection of other brands. Recognition comes from repetition, including when several people prepare the content.

Test the less glamorous situations too: an urgent notice, a change in opening hours or a long explanation. A useful identity needs to handle them. If it only works in the cover photograph, the system needs further development. Brand quality matters especially when the information is important and people have little time to read it.

Check the system on a phone and on a poster viewed from a distance. Also time how long the team takes to prepare a routine piece: a brand guide that requires everything to be rebuilt each week will eventually be abandoned. To develop that continuity, read our guide to pharmacy branding that modernises the business without losing its approachable feel.

2 Educational content organised into short series

One useful explanation can give people more reason to follow a pharmacy than ten product posters. The opportunity is to turn recurring questions into short series: each instalment has a recognisable subject, a reviewed answer and a specific next step. For 2027, we recommend an editorial approach to these series rather than filling the calendar with awareness days that have little connection to the pharmacy.

Erva Doce Farmácia, with social media design by Aline Martelato published in February 2026, offers a reference for visual structure. The author documents a series of educational pieces for a real brand in Brazil. We see a restrained palette, clear titles and photographs that help establish each subject. Here, we’re looking at content organisation and identity.

An editorial cover for Erva Doce social media. Aline Martelato, Brazil, 2026. The reference illustrates design; each pharmacy’s professional content needs review by its own team. View the project.

For one week, note the general questions the team answers repeatedly. Separate questions that explain how the pharmacy works from those requiring individual attention. The first group can feed a series; the second helps explain why someone needs to consult the professional. That small record gives you original topics and keeps the calendar from depending on copied posts from other accounts.

A skincare series could begin with “What information to bring when asking for advice about your routine”. A carousel would show the products the person uses, the question they want to resolve and how to request the team’s attention, without making a public diagnosis. The next instalment would explain how the pharmacy organises that category. The third would show the consultation area. Three pieces with different jobs and the same destination: the page explaining the actual service.

Authorship matters too. When the team signs or presents an explanation, the public knows who’s speaking. Identify the professional, use sources appropriate to the subject and review pieces before publication. A small, clear approval process helps prevent commercial wording from turning a careful explanation into an excessive promise.

The format should support the question. A step-by-step explanation can be a carousel; a tour of the space works better on video; a change in opening hours needs a direct notice. Erva Doce shows how a recognisable palette and hierarchy can bring different subjects together. Keep that visual family and allow the framing, amount of text and pace to change. The template serves the explanation.

When reviewing the series, look beyond total likes: which question keeps appearing in comments, which piece people save and how many visitors reach the service information. If everyone asks about price or how to book, add that to the next piece where appropriate. Expand your calendar with our 25 social media post ideas for pharmacies and social media trends for 2027.

3 Services people understand before asking

A service needs a campaign of its own to reach beyond the counter and into the neighbourhood. If it only appears in a small list on the website, it’s hard to discover. The priority is to explain what happens when someone requests it: who helps them, where, what availability exists and what they need to know before visiting. That information turns a generic phrase such as “pharmacy services” into an understandable offer.

Farmaxpress, a project by Diferente published in 2016, shows how a service proposition can become an identity. The authors worked with the approach to service at a Santo Domingo pharmacy, developing a symbol, icons and compositions connected to its offer. The system uses a heart shape in motion and a highly recognisable colour contrast.

Icons from the Farmaxpress system, organising different service ideas. Diferente, 2016. View the project on Behance.

Before designing an advertisement, complete a brief with the service name, responsible professional, how the service is delivered, opening hours, approximate duration where relevant, price or how to enquire about it, and the request channel. If the team can’t answer those points, the campaign isn’t ready. Publishing first and resolving the terms later tends to move the work to the counter, where every visitor has to ask the same questions again.

Imagine an in-person activity introducing a skincare selection. The first post explains the subject and date. The second shows the team and the space. The third answers whether registration is required. All lead to a page with current information and one way to request a place. The poster in the pharmacy uses the same name. That journey lets people recognise the activity even when they arrive through different channels.

Photography should help people understand. An image of the space or the team preparing the service usually offers more context than a generic illustration of a happy person. If customers appear, agree on the use of their image and avoid revealing personal situations. You can also explain the process with the team and materials without needing a real customer case.

Write the opening message with a verb and a real detail. “See how we organise our skincare selection on Thursday afternoon” tells people more than “Discover a unique experience for your wellbeing”. Then add the details confirmed by the team. Warmth can come through in the language and photographs; clarity should come through in what the person knows how to do after reading.

Close the campaign with a simple record: requests received, places confirmed where applicable, attendance and questions left unanswered. Identify where requests came from when you can. If social media generates visits but nobody completes the form, review the page; if registrations arrive but people don’t turn up, review the time and confirmation. Different problems need different corrections.

4 Local visibility built on accurate information

Local searches often happen in a hurry: “pharmacy near me”, opening hours, a phone number or a specific service. The opportunity for 2027 is to answer those searches well and connect the listing with your own information. Here, visual content has a practical job: helping people recognise the entrance, know how to get there and find the detail they need before leaving home.

The official Google Business Profile help documentation explains that local results are mainly based on relevance, distance and prominence. It also recommends keeping business details, opening hours and photographs complete and up to date. None of those actions lets you promise a particular ranking, but they provide a reasonable foundation for local visibility.

Test three journeys on a phone. Search for the pharmacy’s name and check the address, phone number and opening hours. Search for a service you actually provide and see whether your website explains it. Finally, follow the route to the entrance: does the photograph show the current frontage, and is it easy to recognise? Include special opening hours in the review. An Instagram story about a change doesn’t fix the old hours still appearing in Google’s listing.

Images do useful work too. A current photograph of the frontage helps people recognise the entrance. A view of the interior provides context. A team portrait can make the service feel more approachable. The photographs should represent the pharmacy as it is today and help people find their way, as well as being visually well made.

Farmaxpress frontage and exterior communication. Diferente, Santo Domingo, 2016. The visual interest lies in making the pharmacy recognisable from the street. Project source.

Create a dedicated page for each service with enough substance and real demand. Explain how it works, the team, the address where it’s provided and how to request it. Mention the neighbourhood naturally when it helps people locate you. Creating twenty near-identical pages by changing the area name leaves you with twenty weak answers. A complete page with its own content, linked from navigation, provides a more useful destination for visitors and campaigns.

Reviews deserve a response process. Thanking someone for their feedback and responding clearly shows attention. If a comment includes a personal situation, avoid adding to that information publicly and offer an appropriate channel for discussing it. The response is part of the brand experience, including for the person reading it who isn’t yet a customer.

In Search Console, separate queries containing the pharmacy’s name from searches for services or local information. Then check which page receives those impressions and whether it offers an appropriate way to get in touch. Look at the interactions available in the listing and compare them with enquiries the team receives. That helps distinguish a visibility problem from a problem in the journey. Read more in local SEO for pharmacies and our guide to Google Business Profile improvements that make calls and visits easier.

5 A website designed around the next step

A pharmacy website needs to help visitors complete tasks before asking for their attention. On a phone, they should be able to find opening hours, recognise a service, know who’s behind it and get in touch. The direction we’re interested in moves from a website that introduces the business to one that helps people make a decision. That requires as much care with navigation, content and forms as with the homepage.

The screens in Pentagram’s MedExpress case show that relationship between brand and interface: distinct blocks, an introduction to the team and buttons separating information from the start of an action. Angus Hyland and his team develop an identity with digital applications. MedExpress is a British online pharmacy with its own model and regulatory context. We’re analysing visual hierarchy here; its offer isn’t being transferred to a Spanish pharmacy.

MedExpress mobile interfaces: services, team and distinct actions within one visual system. Pentagram, Angus Hyland and team. Case consulted in October 2026. View the project.

Test the site with someone who doesn’t know it yet. Ask them to find Saturday’s opening hours and work out how to request a service. Observe where they pause, which button they choose and what they ask afterwards. If they find the form but still don’t know who will help them or whether the request confirms an appointment, content is missing. The task doesn’t end when the user presses a button. It ends when they understand what they’ve done.

On a service page, start with a short explanation and practical terms; then show the team or space where that builds confidence; finish with contact details and frequently asked questions. The button should name the actual action: “Request information”, “Book an appointment” or “Check availability”, depending on what the system supports. Don’t call it a booking if the request still requires manual confirmation. That distinction affects the visitor’s expectations and the team’s work.

A campaign link needs to continue the promise. A post about the skincare activity should lead to that activity, with the same date and name, rather than to a homepage where the visitor has to search again. Keep the campaign identifier in the destination URL when using tracking parameters, and record the request separately from a simple page visit. That lets you identify which content opened the door and where the journey was completed.

When adding contact channels, explain how to use them. A commercial information request, an appointment request and a question requiring professional attention may need different routes. The form should ask only for information needed for its purpose and guide users when they need another channel.

Review page visits, use of the contact button and requests actually received. Then read the questions: they may reveal a hidden condition or copy that promises something different from the service. A drop between click and request calls for a form review; lots of unsuitable requests call for a message review. Our guide to pharmacy website elements that build trust and make enquiries easier develops these points.

6 A considered approach to product categories

The feed can introduce a category without becoming an endless catalogue. For 2027, we recommend working on selection, photography and hierarchy: which products make sense together, what information distinguishes each one and which questions the team can answer. Good art direction makes the selection easier to read and the pharmacy’s judgement easier to recognise.

Metode, designed by Goods for Apotek1 and published in 2019, offers a useful visual reference. The studio documents a range with a shared system of bands, typography and colour. You can recognise a family while distinguishing individual applications. Its interest here is the graphic organisation of a varied product range.

Photography and visual organisation within the Metode range. Strategy collaboration with Maskinen and Söhne typography by Klim Type Foundry. Original project.

Metode’s system is interesting because variety still looks like a family. In a health and beauty campaign, use that logic to group products from a category and explain why you’ve brought them together. One piece might introduce travel formats, another show their actual sizes and a third explain where to find each product’s information. The selection provides the thread. A succession of packs on the same background doesn’t do that on its own.

Photography needs a logic. You can keep a background, lighting direction and similar scale so the collection feels consistent. Context is useful when it shows size, texture or accessories. Avoid staging that gives a different impression from what the product actually offers.

Avoid decorative comparisons: photographing three products together doesn’t explain their differences. If you compare, choose verifiable, relevant characteristics such as format, quantity, accessories or manufacturer information. Keep those facts separate from individual guidance that the professional needs to provide. Design can organise the comparison in columns with equal space for each product. The reader can then understand the differences without decoding an image covered in labels.

Commercial terms need to be visible. If there’s a promotion, explain what it applies to, its duration and relevant restrictions in understandable language. The design should allow space for them from the start. Important information shouldn’t require enlarging an image or be hidden in tiny text.

Observe whether the selection leads to more precise conversations: questions about a format, availability of an item or information about the category. Also review which pieces attract visits and which help people reach the contact or purchase step where an appropriate authorised channel exists. If only discounts work, test content that explains the selection criteria. The campaign should give people a reason to remember the pharmacy beyond price.

7 Useful emails and clear confirmations

A notification example within the MedExpress identity. Pentagram, Angus Hyland and team. Case source.

Email has two different jobs: maintaining the interest of people who chose to receive updates, and confirming what happens after a request. Both need a clear idea and comfortable reading. The MedExpress notification in this section illustrates identity and message clarity; the studio doesn’t document it as a newsletter or email campaign. It helps us observe the value of recognising the sender and understanding the action still required.

Define a subscription promise you can keep: for example, health and beauty product news and an activity calendar at a specified frequency. Explain that promise when collecting subscriptions and respect it afterwards. People need to know what they’re signing up for and be able to stop receiving emails. The channel becomes valuable when messages deliver what you offered at sign-up, rather than changing into a different promotion every time.

Organise sends around preferences people choose to provide and that suit the commercial purpose. A newsletter doesn’t need to become a database of health situations. A pharmacy can start with general business information and, where appropriate, a voluntary preference for content about its health and beauty range.

Prepare a sequence for the skincare activity: an invitation with the date and a link to details; confirmation of the request or place, according to the actual process; and a reminder with time and location for registered participants. Each email has a job. The invitation encourages people to find out more; the confirmation resolves uncertainty; the reminder helps them attend. There’s no need to repeat the same poster in all three sends.

An editorial example of an invitation
Subject: An afternoon with our skincare selection
On Thursday, we’ll show you how we organise this category and what information you can discuss with the team. Visit the website for the time, location and participation details.
Primary action: View the activity details.

This is our own copywriting example and needs adapting to a real activity. Change the focus in the confirmation email: state whether the place is confirmed, the date and how to let you know if the person can’t attend. A pending request needs to say it’s pending. Warm language remains possible when the text answers precisely what the reader expects to know.

Design for reading with one hand: an understandable subject line, short paragraphs, a visible date and one primary action that’s easy to tap. Keep the pharmacy’s colours and approach to titles. Add text alongside images so essential details don’t depend on a poster loading. Before sending, open the email on a phone and check the destination link and the response the person will receive.

Evaluate each email according to its job: visits to the details from the invitation, completed requests and attendance where you can record it. Review unsubscribes and replies to adjust frequency and content. Isolated open counts say little about that journey. To expand the calendar, explore our 10 pharmacy email marketing campaigns for the whole year and email marketing services for pharmacies.

8 A consistent experience from screen to counter

Someone might discover an activity on Instagram, read the details on the website and arrive with a confirmation on their phone. Marketing works better when those moments fit together. The priority for 2027 is to review the connections: the same name, current dates, clear terms and a team that knows what’s been published. An attractive campaign loses impact if nobody knows what the visitor is talking about when they arrive.

At Placebo Pharmacy, the identity accompanies objects and materials in the physical space. That care with applications makes the brand recognisable away from a screen. For a local campaign, the lesson is to maintain continuity in the materials the person actually uses: the activity poster, confirmation message and information available when they reach the pharmacy.

The identity continues onto physical materials. Placebo Pharmacy, Luminous Design, 2019.

For the activity we’ve used as an example, walk through the process with the team before announcing it. What happens when a request arrives? Who confirms it? Where is it recorded? Who welcomes attendees? Prepare an internal brief with the same terms as the website. That coordination prevents promises about places, times or service arrangements that the pharmacy can’t sustain.

Pay particular attention to messages after an action. When someone requests information, they need to know whether it arrived, what response to expect and through which channel. Precise wording is usually more reassuring than an attractive phrase with no useful detail. Personality can appear in the tone; the information needs to remain clear.

A QR code in the pharmacy can open the activity details or calendar, provided the poster explains the destination. Include a readable address for people who prefer to type it, and check both on a phone. Use a page you can update when registration closes: the code will remain printed, but visitors should find the current situation and a useful alternative rather than an open form for a date that has passed.

Review continuity after the campaign too. Check for remaining posters or pages with old dates, closed activities or terms that no longer apply. Content that worked for a week can confuse people months later if it’s still easy to find.

At the end, review the journey with the person who handled requests. Note where information was missing and what they had to explain repeatedly. It could be a sentence in the advertisement, a condition on the page or a confirmation message. Correcting that point is worth more than adding another channel. The next campaign should need fewer clarifications and offer the public a more predictable experience.

How to build a pharmacy marketing plan for 2027

For the first quarter, choose a service or category with the actual capacity to handle more interest. Define the objective in observable terms: suitable requests, participation in an activity or enquiries about a selection. Then prepare a landing page, a visual system and a short content series. This order makes you resolve the offer before attracting visits and helps concentrate the budget.

In January, review the local listing, opening hours and service page; assign responsibilities and prepare materials. In February, publish the sequence and use email where a suitable subscriber base exists. In March, compare visits, requests and actual service delivery, and ask the team about recurring questions. Adjust the page and messages before expanding the calendar. These are stages of an example plan, to be adapted to your pharmacy’s activity and availability.

The channels don’t all need to publish the same thing. Google and the website handle search and stable information; social media shows the team and explains the offer; email invites and supports people who chose to receive it; the pharmacy completes the experience. A campaign can reuse images and headlines, but it needs to adapt information to each moment. That coordination turns the eight priorities into a marketing plan.

Objective

What to observe

What to review next

Introduce a service

Visits to its information and identifiable enquiries

Message clarity and contact options

Make pharmacy visits easier

Questions about opening hours, location and availability

Practical details and current photography

Maintain the relationship

Interest in activities, useful clicks and email unsubscribes

Topics, frequency and expectations

Improve content

Recurring questions and audience responses

Sources, format and the next instalment

At Lead the Mood, our pharmacy marketing connects identity, content and digital presence. Then create three pieces explaining it from different angles. That journey lets you check whether suitable requests arrive and which questions remain. Identity and the calendar should help sustain it. Expanding channels makes sense when the team can already deliver and maintain the offer.

What type of content can help a pharmacy build authority?

Explanations reviewed by its team, service information and general answers to frequently asked questions, with suitable sources where the subject requires them. Authorship and precision help people understand who’s providing the information. Personal cases should be handled through the appropriate professional channel rather than turned into public commercial content.

Does a pharmacy need to post offers constantly?

Its communication can combine educational content, business information, the team, services and relevant commercial updates. Promotions need their own judgement and review. A recognisable brand and a useful explanation can also give people reasons to visit.

How do social media and local SEO connect?

They can work with the same services, location and messages, leading to pages that explain the information in detail. That helps keep the user’s journey consistent. Posting more on social media doesn’t guarantee a Google ranking; local work needs to review the data, website and the business’s actual presence.

Why are older references included in a selection for 2027?

They illustrate decisions that remain useful for planning: a consistent identity, clear hierarchy or good product presentation.
